Caise and I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies this morning. I was happy, they turned out quite good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but hey, good for my first try. We had my favourite turkey burgers for lunch and then hung out the rest of the day. I played Warcraft and Caise laid on the couch with Ajax watching movies. Typical day at home.

All of this because the forcast called for rain today and he didn’t want a puddle on the driveway. Smart since it will probably freeze again tomorrow.

It’s been raining all afternoon at this point and the trench is working perfectly, the water draining and running down the street. Our neighbour (on the side we didn’t clear) has a huge puddle on his driveway. Yuck.

We still haven’t decorated our Christmas tree. Caise has three more hockey games tonight. Maybe we’ll do it tomorrow? Heh.

So, after the snow eaters had left I considered making lunch, but decided to play WoW a bit longer. An e-mail comes through, it’s about 12:20pm and it’s Caise and he’s locked his keys in the car ... again! He wants me to come and get him in a cab. Well fine, so I checked the bus route first, but it looked like a lot of walking in the snow, so I called the cab and went outside to wait.

He arrived in about 10 minutes and off we went to the Loblaws to drop me off with the spare set of keys. Good thing I remembered to bring them with me! $10 later and now we’re at home again.

Caise is outside digging a trench in the snow bank to make sure the melted snow drains correctly. It’s expected to rain tomorrow and having the drain blocked with snow would have been oh so very messy. But that also included shovelling our neighbours driveways as well. Go figure, but it’s nice out there now. I went and helped for a bit.

Snow Eaters

I know they are on their way I’ve seen two dump trucks of snow drive by so far. I love the snow eaters, they’re great fun, and such and interesting idea. One giant snow blower “eating” the curb side snow and blowing back into a dump truck. A string of dump trucks follow behind, ready to move ahead when the first one is full. They they drive away and dump all the snow in some other location.. a giant mountain of snow that takes months and months to melt.

They are snow eating today because it’s supposed to rain. The sewer gutters are all covered in hills of 4” high snow. Hello flooding that turns into sheets of ice when it freezes again tomorrow. A third truck of snow just drove past ... I like that even though we’re in a suburb it’s the main street and the one with the bus route. It’s more interesting here.
